ARUCC Awards

ARUCC Awards recognize leadership and excellence for ARUCC members, associate members and organizations. Members each year nominate their colleagues in recognition of their achievements, service and contributions to ARUCC and the registrarial practice in Canada. Award recipients are honoured at ARUCC's Annual Meeting each year.

Below is a list of the awards being offered by ARUCC.

Honourary Membership Award

The ARUCC Honorary Membership Award recognizes the long time significant contributions and service of ARUCC members who are no longer eligible for ARUCC membership. 

Criteria:

A nominee will generally satisfy the following criteria:

  • Has made significant contributions to ARUCC which may include service as a member and/or officer of the executive committee; active participation in planning committees of biennial conferences; participation as presenter, chair, recorder at conferences; service as a member of an Association task force; and/or active participation in regional association affairs over a long period of time.
  • Is known for their commitment to serving students and their academic communities, and has contributed significantly to the advancement of the Canadian registrarial profession.
  • Has provided exceptional leadership during a lengthy career and is well-recognized at the institutional, national and/or regional levels.

Details of Award

Recipients are exempt from paying annual ARUCC dues, but retain all rights and privileges of paying members with the exception of holding office or voting. Honourary Membership Award recipients will be considered ARUCC members for the purpose of participation and registration at biennial ARUCC conferences and will receive a 25% discount on conference registration fees.

Outstanding Achievement Award

The Outstanding Achievement Award recognizes professionals who are making significant contributions to the work of ARUCC, a regional association, their own institution and/or Canadian registrarial practice.

Criteria:

Nominees should generally satisfy the following criteria:

  • Are currently employed in an ARUCC member or associate member institution or organization in a registrarial area, or area of work that directly impacts registrarial practice
  • Normally, are mid career with a minimum of 10 years related experience
  • Has provided service and/or leadership of an exemplary nature that sets them apart from their peers, and where their impact is tangible, noteworthy, and models the highest level of professionalism and engagement

Details of Award

Up to two awards will be conferred biennially, and will be presented at the national ARUCC conference.

New & Emerging Leader Award

The New & Emerging Leader Award recognizes early-career ARUCC members or associate members who demonstrate exceptional leadership potential and model the core competencies germane to one or more areas of Canadian registrarial professional practice.

Criteria:

Nominees should generally satisfy the following criteria:

  • Are currently employed in an ARUCC member or associate member institution or organization in a registrarial area, or area of work that directly impacts registrarial practice
  • Have less than 5 years of experience
  • Have consistently demonstrated outstanding effective leadership capabilities, both within and beyond the scope of their responsibilities
  • Have demonstrated passion, competency, and vision

Up to two awards will be conferred biennially, and will be presented at the national ARUCC conference.

Next Best Practice & Innovation Award

This award recognizes individuals or teams that have moved a project or initiative beyond best practices to create “next practices” (tomorrow’s innovations) with bold thinking and game changing ideas.

Criteria

  • Are currently employed in an ARUCC member or associate member institution or organization in a registrarial area, or area of work that directly impacts registrarial practice
  • Nominations must include an executive summary of the next practice or innovation being recognized with this award, outlining its objective, impact, scalability and sustainability

The Next Practice & Innovation Award will be conferred biennially, and will be presented at the national ARUCC conference.

Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion Award

This award honours forward thinking ARUCC member/associate members or teams that have demonstrated leadership, perseverance and innovation in visioning and implementing strategies, processes and best practices to better support underrepresented students from prospect to graduation and beyond within a registrarial context.

Nominations can be made by any ARUCC member or associate member.

Criteria

Nominees should satisfy the following criteria:

  • Are currently employed in an ARUCC member or associate member institution or organization in a registrarial area, or area of work that directly impacts registrarial practice
  • Have demonstrated leadership in creating and implementing diversity and inclusion initiatives within their institution and/or in collaboration across multiple Canadian institutions, across various populations, and with measurable positive impact

This award will place special emphasis on effective, scalable and sustainable initiatives that remove systemic barriers. Scope and scale of impact will be considerations.

Andrew Arida Distinguished Service Award

Named in recognition of ARUCC Past President Andrew Arida, whose contributions to the Canadian registrarial and admissions professions were numerous, the Andrew Arida Distinguished Service Award recognizes members or associate members who have exemplary records of service to the Association, have contributed to the advancement of the Canadian registrarial profession significantly, and continue to be actively employed by a member or associate member institution/organization. Nominees should generally satisfy the following criteria:

  • Are currently employed in an ARUCC member or associate member institution or organization in a registrarial area, or area of work that directly impacts registrarial practice
  • Have made significant contributions to ARUCC, which may include: service as a member and/or officer of the executive committee; active participation in planning committees of biennial conferences; participation as presenter, chair, recorder at conferences; service as a member of an Association task force; active participation in regional association affairs over a long period of time
  • Is known for their commitment to serving students and their academic communities, and has contributed to the advancement of the Canadian registrarial profession over a long period of time
  • Has provided exceptional leadership during a lengthy career and is well-recognized at the institutional, national and/or regional levels.

Exceptional Affiliate/Partner Award - NEW AWARD!

The Exceptional Affiliate/Partner Award recognizes non member professionals, teams or organizations who are making significant contributions to the higher education registrarial profession in Canada. Nominations must be made by any ARUCC member or associate member.

Criteria

Nominees should generally satisfy the following criteria:

  • Are currently involved in area of work that directly impacts registrarial practice in Canada
  • Has provided service and/or leadership of an exemplary nature that sets them apart from their peers, and where their impact is tangible, noteworthy, and models the highest level of professionalism and engagement
